Just a quick follow up, there will be still be a meeting tomorrow September 27th at 6:00 at Tio’s in Ypsilanti. Sorry for anyone who was inconvenienced by the last cancellation; we promise the meeting will occur tomorrow.

Meetup — Mon, Sept 18 [Postponed!]

A meetup for Refresh Detroit is scheduled for 6pm, Monday, September 18 at Tio’s Mexican Restaurant in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Any local web developer interested in web standards, usability, and accessibility is invited. Come and join the good food and great conversation!

This meeting has been postponed to Wednesday, September 27th. Same time, same place.

Strategy Meeting

Refresh Detroit had a planning meeting today. We discussed strategies for getting the word out about our organization, how to improve our website, and incentives/plans for members of the organization.

We discussed:

  • Submitting the site to web developer directories
  • Press Releases
  • Promotion in Yahoo! Groups
  • Discussion on the Web Axe (podcast and blog on web accessibility)
  • Local Chambers of Commerce

The benefits of being with Refresh Detroit:

  • Free meetings to discuss and learn about Web Standards, Accessibility, and Usability
  • Referral and networking service (if a member gets a lead but is too busy to follow, he refers the lead to another member)
  • Link on the web site, and a Badge (which will be created) to showcase your care and participation in Refresh Detroit.
